With the league under suspension we continue to offer betting tips from the major sports under the sports leagues return then it will be picks galore. Today we look at profiling NBA teams. I am a believer in home road splits. I often search for team profiles in back end of back to backs, rest angles such as two days of rest angles for good defensive teams.
When handicapping individual teams is it important after like 20 games into the season to identify different profiles for teams when they are at home, road, back to backs and come off at least two days of rest. There are also spots when teams come off a long road trip and play that first home game which is often a flat spot for the home team.
Through the current season the Philadelphia 76ers were covering 65.5% of their home games this season ranking best in the league. On the road the 76ers are the worst cover team at 28.1%. At home the 76ers are shooting 48.5% with 37.6% from three. They are among the worst defensive teams in the NBA allowing 48.2% shooting and 37.6% from three point range.
Minnesota Timberwolves are the worst cover home team in the league at 22.6% where they allow 47% shooting and 36% from three. Timberwolves the third worst shooting team at home connecting on 44.1% and 33.6% from three. Minnesota has been hit with an injury to Karl Anthony Towns who was a rim defender and scorer. Timberwolves have had some lean seasons as they struggle to build from the draft and acquire impact free agents.
Some no-rest angles have been profitable wagering against the poor defensive teams like the Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks. They have combined for 5-18 against the spread in back ends of back to back games on the campaign. In the positive category are the LA Lakers who have covered seven of eight games with no rest. Rest angles have been strong with good teams. Lakers, Heat and Celtics have combined for 25-11 ATS with 2-3 days of rest. Teams that play defense and get rest are good bets.
