The 136th running of the Preakness Stakes is on tap for Saturday May 21st from Pimlico racetrack in Baltimore Maryland.
Post time for the second jewel of the Triple Crowns is scheduled for 6:18PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by NBC.
A full field of 14 is scheduled to run the distance of 1 3/16th of a mile over the fast dirt surface of Pimlico racetrack.
Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom was set as the 2/1 morning line favorite.
The second favorite is Florida Derby winner Dialed In who is coming off a disappointing 8th place finish last time out in the Kentucky Derby.

The weather forecast for this 136th Preakness Stakes has come up perfect.
It calls for sunny and clear skies with highs in the 80’s.

Only horse with legitimate excuse in the Derby.
I expect better placement today much like we saw in his effort in the Risen Star and Remsen.
Animal Kingdom will have Jorge Velazquez in the irons and Graham Motion trains.
Peaking now after producing a solid 103 Beyer in the Kentucky Derby. Now has won two straight races all in graded company.
Has shown the ability to win stalking the early leaders.

Shackleford will have the services of Jose Castanon and is trained by Dale Romans.
This three year old by Forestry likes the front end I expect him to contend with the early leaders.
With the tight turns of Pimlico I expect Shackleford to be able to maintain his position in this race.
He put up a respectable 97 Beyer his best ever in his fourth place finish at the Kentucky Derby.

West coast shipper Mr. Commons connections are Victor Espinoza in the saddle and the trainer is John Shirreffs.
Trainer Shirreffs wouldn’t ship here unless he felt he had a shot in this race.
He is coming off a third place finish in the Santa Anita Derby with and posted a career best 93 Beyer. It was his first ever Graded stakes effort.
Three in the money finishes in his past three races and is fresh for this spot.
Making only his fifth career start. Look for improvement from this one as he has trained well since his Santa Anita Derby effort.
