The Oklahoma Sooners will kick off their 2012 college football season as they travel to face the UTEP Miners on Saturday night.

Senior wide out Mike Edwards is back following a 2011 campaign where he caught 50 balls for 657 yards and three touchdowns.
Bob Stoops enters his 14th season at Oklahoma. His 2011 team finished at 10-3 and earned a disappointing Insight Bowl berth where the club defeated Iowa 31-14 as a -13 ½ point favorite. Eight offensive starters and seven on defense return in 2012 for the Sonners.
Senior quarterback Landry Fields in 2011 completed 63.2% of his passes for 4463 yards with 29 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.
Three of the top rushers from 2011 are back in 2012 for Oklahoma. Dominque Whaley a senior back led Oklahoma last year with 864 rushing yards and nine touchdowns with a 5 ½ yards a carry average. Two of the top three Oklahoma receivers from 2011 are back with the team this year. A big loss was wide out Ryan Broyles how has left the Oklahoma program.
