The Cleveland Browns opens up their NFL preseason with a week one road trip to face the Detroit Lions on Friday night.
Start time from Detroit is set for 7:30PM Eastern Time with tape delayed national television coverage provided by the NFL Network on Saturday morning at 2AM Eastern Time.

The early money has come on the road team as Detroit was bet down to a -3 point favorite. The total has moved up to a current line of 36 ½ points.

This will be the debut of rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden out of Oklahoma St for the Cleveland Browns. He is ahead of the 2011 starter Colt McCoy out of Texas in the depth chart. Veteran Seneca Wallace is competing for his backup spot. Former Duke quarterback Thaddeus Lewis who impressed last preseason is vying for a roster spot.
The Browns running back positing sees first round draft pick Trent Richardson out of Alabama on the top of the depth chart. Also competing for time in the Browns backfield in 2012 are Montario Hardesty, Brandon Jackson and Chris Ogbonnaya.
The Lions have four quarterbacks in camp in 2012. Starting quarterback Matthew Stafford should see limited time under center. Capable backup Shaun Hill is the number two option. Rookie Kellen Moore out of Boise St will compete with R.J. Archer out of William & Mary for the third string position.
At running back the Lions are hoping that Jahvid Best can overcome his post-concussion issues and can be cleared by doctors to play. Former Illinois product Mikel LeShoure will compete with veterans Kevin Smith and Keiland Williams for carries in the Lions backfield.
