Expect Osweiler to play a series or two. His backup is Brandon Weeden who enters his fifth season. Weeden has started 25 games in the league including one with the Texans and three with the Cowboys last season. Tom Savage enters his third year with the team and has saw mop up work in his rookie campaign during the regular season.
San Francisco was a last place team in the NFC West in 2015 with a record of 5-11. Chip Kelly makes his coaching debut with the team. Colin Kaepernick starts under center and is looking for better results than last year. Blaine Gabbert is the backup and has started 35 games in his five years in the league including eight starts last year. Jeff Driskel a rookie out of Louisiana Tech is in camp along with Thad Lewis who has bounced around the league in his six seasons in the league.
