Donovan McNabb will make his Minnesota Vikings preseason debut when they take to the road in a week one exhibition NFL pro football game against the Tennessee Titans on Saturday night.
Kick off time from Tennessee is scheduled for 8PM Eastern Time with tape delayed national television coverage provided by NFL Network Sunday morning at 10AM Eastern Time.
The point spread opened up with the home team Tennessee Titans favored by -3 points with the over under lined at 32 ½ points.
Early money from the NFL wagering public has landed on the side of the home team as the Tennessee Titans are now favored by -3 ½ points.
The over under has moved upward to a current number of 33 points.
Tennessee Titans money line bettors will lay –185 odds with the road underdog Minnesota Vikings returning +160 odds to pull off the upset win with no need for taking the points.
NFL exhibition pro football bettors look for NFL regular season experience and depth in the quarterback and running back positions.
The Minnesota Vikings first string quarterback is newly acquired 13 year veteran Donovan McNabb.
Expect McNabb to see a series or two in week one of the preseason.
Backing up McNabb is first round draft pick Christian Ponder out of Florida St.
The third string quarterback is second year man Joe Webb from UAB.
In his rookie season in 2010 Webb started twice and saw action in five games where he connected on 60.7% of his passes for 477 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions.
Webb saw action in the 2010 NFL preseason for the Vikings and the signal caller completed 17 of 30 passes for 191 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.
Competing for a spot on the roster is third year pro Rhett Bomar from Sam Houston St. Bomar is already behind the 8 ball having been pulled over for suspicion of a DUI during training camp.
In his two seasons Bomar has seen no action in NFL games. He played in all four exhibition games for Minnesota in 2010 where he completed 51.9% of his passes for 545 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.
Adrian Peterson is back as the lead running back for the Minnesota Vikings in the 2011 season.
His backup is second year pro Toby Gerhart out of Stanford.
The third spot in the rotation is up for grabs during camp with rookies Matt Asiata from Utah and Alexander Robinson from Iowa St competing against second year pro Tristan Davis from Auburn.
Tennessee acquired free agent quarterback Matt Hasselbeck formally of the Seattle Seahawks as the team’s number one. Hasselbeck should see very limited action on Saturday night.
The Titans backup is rookie first round draft pick Jake Locker out of Washington.
In the third string spot is second year pro Rusty Smith out of Florida Atlantic.
Rusty Smith had one start and played in a total of two games in the 2010 season for the Titans where he hit on 20 of 40 passes for 200 yards with no touchdowns and four picks.
Smith played in all four NFL preseason games for Tennessee and he hit on 54.5% of his passes for 198 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions.
Also at camp for the Titans is fourth year pro Brett Ratliff out of Utah.
Ratliff has seen no appearances in NFL regular season games.
Brett Ratliff appeared in three preseason games in 2010 and he completed 18 of 34 passes for 154 yards with no touchdowns and two picks.
Tennessee’s number one running back Chris Johnson is currently in a contract dispute and is holding out.
Running back Javon Ringer a third year pro out of Michigan St will compete for the backup position along with rookie fourth round draft pick Jamie Harper from Clemson.
Vying for roster spots is second year pro Stafon Johnson from USC, Joe Tronzo a second year pro from Louisville and sixth year back Ahmard Hall.
