In the bowl season we have seen the running teams having a good edge over passing teams as the long layoff impacts the precision and timing needed to execute passes downfield.
Connecticut has a good running back in Jordan Todman who rushed for nearly 1600 yards this season to power a Huskies run game that averages 180 yards per game.
Todman is averaging over 5 yards per carry and Oklahoma’s defense surrenders over 150 yards per game on the ground.
I would expect Connecticut to play ball control in this game and limit possessions to keep the Sooners offense to as minimal plays as possible forcing them to take as much time possible before they can develop rhythm and timing in their passing attack.
Don’t expect the Sooners to be too motivated here to play the Big East champion. Oklahoma surrenders 32 points per game away from their home turf on the season.
Connecticut is well coached and will represent themselves well in this game to cover this point spread. The Huskies closed the season with five straight wins beating four bowl teams in the process.
