Miami Dolphins versus New England Patriots CBS TV Sunday January 2nd 2011 NFL Pro Football Odds Sports Betting Pick Preview

The Miami Dolphins will square off with AFC East divisional rivals the New England Patriots in an NFL pro football in week 17 on Sunday afternoon.

Kick off time from New England is set for 1PM Eastern Time and its CBS providing the television coverage.

The point spread opened up with the home team New England Patriots favored by -2 odds with an over under of 42 ½ points.

Early money from the NFL betting public has come on the side of the Patriots as New England has been bet up to a -3 point favorite. The total has moved up to 43 points.

Those backing the favored New England Patriots on the money line will lay -150 odds with the road underdog Miami Dolphins returning +140 odds to post the upset win with no need for taking the points.

In their first meeting this season it was the New England Patriots with the 41-14 win on Monday night football against the Miami Dolphins as a +1 point road underdog. The game played over the closing total of 48 yards.

New England scored three touchdowns in special teams returns and an interception return. Because of the non conventional scores the stats are bit skewed. The Patriots posted 265 yards. They ran it 32 times for 119 yards. Tom Brady hit on 19 of 24 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown.

The club hits the road for the eighth time this season where they are 6-1 on the season. Their lone road loss came in a 26-10 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens in early November as a +5 point underdog.

The team concluded a very poor 1-7 home campaign last week in their 34-27 loss to the Detroit Lions as a -3 ½ point favorite.

Miami blew a 10 point fourth quarter lead in defeat as they allowed the Lions to score 17 fourth quarter points.

The Dolphins put up 425 yards and converted on 8 of 17 on third down. The team ran the ball 37 times for 154 yards for a 4.2 yards per rush average. Miami turned the ball over three times and took none away from the Lions.

Quarterback Chad Henne completed 29 of 44 passes for 278 yards with a touchdown and two picks.

Ricky Williams on 14 carries rushed for 71 yards. Ronnie Brown contributed with 37 yards rushing on 12 attempts and a score. Brown caught 6 passes out of the backfield for 34 yards.

Wide out Brandon Marshall led the team with 10 pass catches for 102 yards. Davone Bess had 5 receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown.

On defense the Dolphins give up 19 points and 296 yards per game.

Miami allowed the Detroit offense to gain 275 yards and to convert on 4 of 12 on third down. The Dolphins contained the Lions run game by allowing 67 yards on 21 carries for a 3.2 yards per rush average.

They allowed the opposing quarterback to hit on 14 of 26 passes for 222 yards with two touchdowns and no picks.

On defense the Patriots allow 20 points and 374 yards per game.

New England allowed the Buffalo offense to produce 369 yards and convert on 3 of 10 on third down. The team gave up 125 yards rushing on 21 carries for a 6 yards per rush average. The Patriots allowed their AFC east opponent to convert on no touchdowns in three tries inside the red zone. New England forced 7 Buffalo turnovers and gave none back.

The Patriots allowed the opposing quarterback to hit on 18 of 37 passes for 251 yards with no touchdowns and three picks.
