It was a solid defensive effort by the Cavaliers defense allowing USC only 329 yards and 5 of 15 on third down on the road inside the LA Coliseum. Virginia held their own in the point of attack as USC could only average 4 yards per rushing attempt and it was the Trojans home opener for new head coach Lane Kiffin.
