Fourth year Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh will find 8 starters return on offense and only 6 to the defense. The team finished off play in 2009 with an 8-5 record and closed out the season posting a 31-27 loss to Oklahoma as a 10 point underdog in the Sun Bowl.

Sophomore quarterback Andrew Luck returns under center following a freshman season where the signal caller hit on 56.2% of his passes for 2575 yards with 13 touchdowns and 4 picks.

The Cardinal opened up play in 2010 with the 52-17 win against FCS Sacramento St.

Luck passed for 17 of 23 for 316 yards four touchdowns and no interceptions in victory.

The club lost a key ingredient to their offense as running back Toby Gerhart is now a Minnesota Viking. The Cardinal will miss the 1913 yards with 343 carries and 28 touchdowns from their workhorse running back.

In a blowout win against an FCS opponent the Cardinals spread carries to a number of backs. Sophomore Usua Amanam led the team with 50 yards on 8 carries last week.

Senior wide out Doug Baldwin led Stanford last week with 4 catches for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Defensively the Cardinal allowed 27 points and 403 yards last week. The team was weak against the pass allowing 265 yards passing per game and that can be attributed to a lack of speed in their secondary.

Sacramento St was able to gain 167 yards and only 1.8 yards per carry average on the Stanford defense. They were held by the Cardinal to only 5 of 15 on third down.
