It will be veteran Kyle Orton starting as quarterback for the Broncos. Orton continues to stave off the competition for his starting job as he is named the starter in 2010.

In 2009 Orton hit on 62.1% of his passes for 3802 yards with 21 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. After a 6-0 start the Broncos tanked down the stretch losers of 8 of their last 10 games. During the 6 game winning streak Orton had just 1 interception but had 11 in the teams final 10 games.

The Broncos will look to improve on the 18th ranked rushing offense in 2009. Second year pro Knowshon Moreno had 247 carries last year with 947 yards and 7 touchdowns. Moreno has been listed as probable as he is sporting a hamstring issue.

The veteran Correll Buckhalter returns and the team hopes for better health after he missed two games last season. Buckhalter produced a 5.4 yards a carry average on 120 carries last season.

The Broncos receiver position saw heavy turnover with Brandon Marshall exiting the team along with tight end Tony Scheffler. The team starts 8 year veteran Brandon Lloyd and Eddie Royal out wide. Royal had 37 catches for only a 9.3 yards per catch average in 2009 with 0 touchdowns. The Broncos drafted former Georgia Tech wide out Demaryius Thomas to add depth.

Defensively the Broncos sat 7th in the league allowing 315 yards a game. They were outstanding defending the pass allowing just 186 yards passing per game ranking 3rd in the league.

The Broncos suffered a huge loss as pass rusher Elvis Dumervil was lost for the season with an injury during the preseason. Dumervil led the Broncos with 17 sacks in 2009.

Jacksonville head coach Jack Del Rio is on the hot seat. The Jaguars are playing home games in front of many empty seats and the team won just 5 games in 2008 and 7 in 2009 and missed the post season.

This could be starting quarterback David Garrard’s last season with the club if he cannot lead the Jaguars to a playoff berth.

The 9 year veteran hit on only 60.9% of his passes last season with 3597 yards 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. The Jaguars were 19th in the league in passing averaging 209 yards per game.

Running back Maurice Jones Drew was a workhorse for Jacksonville with 1391 yards on 312 carries and 15 touchdowns with a respectable 4.5 yards per carry average.

Starting wide out Mike Sims Walker produced a nice 2009 season with 63 catches for 869 yards and 7 touchdowns. Second year pro Mike Thomas starts opposite and the player produced 48 catches with only a 9.4 yards per catch average. Kaseem Osgood may finally get a chance to show off his talents in other areas than special teams as he comes over from the crowded wide receiver position in San Diego.

Defensively the Jaguars have struggled mightily after seeing their playoff teams from the past purged in free agency and being unable to reload. The Jaguars were 14th and last in sacks last season generating only 14 sacks.

The lack of pass rush contributed to big plays against the Jaguars secondary as the team sat 27th in pass defense allowing 235 yards through the air per game.
