The West Virginia Mountaineers from the Big East conference will face in state rival the Marshall Thundering Herd from Conference USA in a prime time college football game on Friday night.

The team allowed 22 points and 337 yards per game on the defensive end.
They held their FCS opponent last week to just 186 total yards and 2 of 14 on third downs. Coastal Carolina could only average 1.9 yards per rush last week.
In their meeting last year it was West Virginia posting the 24-7 victory as a 20 point home favorite.
It was a very poor showing for the Thundering Herd in their opener as they dropped a 45-7 decision at Ohio St last week as a 28 point road underdog.

Senior starting quarterback Brian Anderson hit on just 17 of 28 passes for 135 yards no touchdowns and a pick.
In last years game against West Virginia Anderson hit on 17 of 25 passes for 149 yards with no touchdowns and 2 picks.
Last year the team jumped out to the 7-0 road lead but gave up the last 24 points to the Mountaineers. Marshall had no success on the ground with just 58 yards on 34 carries.
The Thundering Herd were very sloppy in defeat last season in their rivalry game as they had 4 turnovers.
The Marshall defense allowed Noel Devine to rush for 103 yards on 19 carries with two touchdowns. The defense held its own against the Mountaineers as West Virginia converted on just 3 of 13 on third down and had 313 total yards.
