The San Francisco 49ers will hit the road to face NFC West division rival the Seattle Seahawks in an NFL pro football game on Sunday afternoon.

Kick off time from Seattle is set for 4:15PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by Fox Television.

The point spread opened up at pick with the over under coming in at 38 ½.

The early money from the NFL betting public has been road team money as the San Francisco 49ers are now 3 point favorites. The total saw movement upward to a current over under of 47 ½ points.

Money line bettors laying the chalk with the San Francisco 49ers will lay -150 odds with the home underdog Seattle Seahawks returning +130 to pull off the upset win without the aid of taking the points.

Many are touting this San Francisco 49ers as the favorite to win the NFC West this season as Kurt Warner retires from the Arizona Cardinals. This for a team that was 8-8 last season and haven’t seen a season over .500 since the 2002 season.

The 49ers seem to have the pieces together for a playoff run but the huge question mark is under center in Alex Smith. The 49ers remind me a bit of the Minnesota Vikings rebuilding effort with Tarvaris Jackson under center. The team was 27th in offense last season.

Alex Smith completed on 60.5% of his passes with 2350 yards 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

The teams split last season with the 49ers posting the 23-10 home win as a 1 ½ point favorite and the Seahawks pulling out the 20-17 victory as a 1 point underdog.

Smith was under center for 1 meeting with Seattle and the 49ers signal caller hit on 27 of 45 for 310 yards and two touchdowns and no picks in a 20-17 loss.

Running back Frank Gore had a solid 2009 season behind his 1120 yards and 10 touchdowns with a 4.9 yards per carry average. Gore had injury issues last season as he missed two games. Rookie Anthony Dixon drafted from Mississippi St will back up Gore. Dixon led all rushers in preseason. Veteran Brian Westbrook will compete for carries as he was acquired in free agency after a long career with the Eagles. Westbrook has battled concussion related injuries the past few seasons.

Tight end Vernon Davis led the 49ers with 78 catches and 13 touchdowns last season. 2009 first round pick Michael Crabtree will line up at wide out. Crabtree averaged 13 yards per reception last season. Three year veteran Josh Morgan will line up opposite Crabtree. He had 52 catches with a 10.1 yards per reception average.

The 49ers are solid on the defensive side of the ball. They were 6th last season against the run allowing just 97 yards rushing per game. The 49ers have a solid pass rush as the team recorded 44 sacks to rank 3rd in the league in 2009.

This will mark the debut of head coach Pete Carroll with the Seahawks. The club finished off a miserable 2009 season with a 5-11 record.

Twelve year veteran Matt Hasselbeck returns off an injury plagued season that saw the signal caller miss two games.

Hasselbeck completed 60% of his passes last season with 17 touchdowns and 17 picks. The club finished 15th in the league in passing averaging 218 yards per game.

The Seahawks had problems running the football ranking 26th in the league. Julius Jones had 177 carries in 2009 and produced only a 3.7 yards per carry average and 2 touchdowns. Justin Forsett backed him up and produced 5.4 yards per rush on 114 carries. The team signed free agent Leon Washington from the Jets as the back returns following a broken leg last season.

Seattle’s top two receivers will not be with the team this season as Nate Burleson was lost in free agency and T.J. Houshmandzadeh was released. They will start rookie Golden Tate out of Notre Dame and veteran Deion Branch.

Defensively the Seahawks was decimated by injuries last year and finished 24th in total defense allowing 356 yards per game. Seattle was very weak in their secondary ranking 30th in the NFL allowing 245 yards through the air.
