The SMU Mustangs following a good 2009 campaign open the season with a road trip to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders in a college football game on Sunday afternoon.
Kick off time from Texas Tech is scheduled for 3:30PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by ESPN television.

SMU averaged 29 points and 392 offensive yards a game last season. Behind head coach June Jones’ system this team relies heavily on the pass as they produced 282 yards passing per game in 2009. Defensively the club allowed 28 points and 397 yards per game.
Texas Tech went through a turbulent off season that saw Mike Leach lose his job at the program after a very successful tenure with the club. Leach averaged nearly 8 ½ wins over his 10 year stint with the team. Former Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville is now the head man at Texas Tech.
The team returns 8 starters on offense and 6 to their defense. The club went 9-4 in 2009 and defeated Michigan St 41-31 in their bowl game as 9 point betting favorites.
