Wisconsin will returns 10 offensive starters and 6 to the defense for fifth year head coach Bret Bielema in 2010.

The Badgers finished up the 2009 season with a 10-3 record and defeated Miami Florida 20-14 as a 3 ½ point underdog in their bowl game. The team finished winners of 5 of their past 6 games.

Starting quarterback Scott Tolzien returns for his senior season under center for the Badgers. In 2009 Tolzien completed 64.3% of his passes for 2705 yards 16 touchdowns and 11 picks. Tolzien needs to toughen up when he steps up in class against good defenses such as the likes of Ohio St, Iowa and Penn St.

Leading rusher from a year ago junior John Clay is back in 2010. The running back is coming off a season where he rushed for 1548 yards and 18 touchdowns with a very good 5.3 yards per carry average.

Out wide the club returns leading receiver junior Nick Toon who had 54 catches for 805 yards with 4 touchdowns and a very good 14.9 yards a catch average. Senior Issac Anderson returns off a pretty good 2009 where he caught 30 passes with an impressive 16 yards per reception average.

Last year the team produced 32 points and 417 offensive yards per game. The defense held their opponents to 22 points and 306 yards per game. The Badgers were very good against the run limiting opposing backd to just a 2.9 yards per carry average.

This will mark the debut of first year head coach Bobby Hauck to the Rebels program. Hauck ran a very successful program at Montana where he guided the Grizzlies to three FCS National Championships so he brings much needed excellent qualifications to the program.

He will inherit 8 starters on offense and 8 to his defense. The team is coming off an awful tenure with head coach Mike Sanford at the helm. The team finished 5-7 in 2009 and missed another bowl game. The Rebels haven’t gone bowling since the 2000 season.

Senior quarterback Omar Clayton returns to UNLV as the signal caller completed 60.1% of his passes for 2230 yards 13 touchdowns and 12 picks. Junior Mike Clausen is the clubs number two quarterback and has been impressive in summer practice. Last season Clausen hit on 59.1% of his passes for 463 yards 4 touchdowns and 2 picks.

The Rebels return leading running back senior Omar Clayton returns back to the club. Clayton in 2009 rushed for 569 yards with 9 touchdowns and an impressive 4.7 yards per carry average. Clayton and Clausen rushed a combined 145 times last season for 10 touchdowns.

Tight end Ryan Wolfe and his 74 catches is a big loss this season. The team returns junior wide outs Phillip Payne and Michael Johnson. Payne had 58 catches a year ago for 661 yards and 7 touchdowns.

The Rebels averaged 25 points and 351 offensive yards in 2009. The team struggled big time on defense last season. They allowed 32 points and an atrocious 456 yards a game. Opposing teams ran all over UNLV in 2009 with 220 rushing yards averaged per game against their defense. Wisconsin is not a good opponent to face when you cannot stop the run.
