The USC Trojans will travel in Lane Kiffin’s coaching debut as they face the Hawaii Warriors from WAC conference on Thursday night.

They kick this game off from Hawaii at 11PM Eastern Time with live television coverage provided by ESPN TV.

The LVSC college football lines makers have set the betting point spread in this game and the road team USC Trojans opened as 19 point favorites with an over under of 53 ½.

The early money in this game came on the team from the Pac 10 conference as the USC Trojans are now 21 point favorites. The over under hasn’t moved off the opening total of 53 ½.

Money line bettors betting on the favored USC Trojans will lay -2500 odds with the home underdog Hawaii Warriors returning +1400 to pull off the home upset victory without the need for taking the points.

Head coach Lane Kiffin follows a successful tenure of Pete Carroll at USC. The Trojans faced much adversity in the off season as the club was banned from bowl play for the next two seasons.

The Trojans will return 5 starters on offense and 6 from their defense from a season ago.

Sophomore quarterback Matt Barkely returns following an unspectacular freshman year under center for USC standards. Barkely was babied by the Carroll coaching staff last season to not bury his confidence but many around the program felt he needed a kick in the behind.

Barkley hit on just 59.9% of his passes for 2735 yards 15 touchdowns and a very bad 14 interceptions.

The team returns running back Allen Bradford who gained 692 yards on 115 carries for a solid 5.8 yards per carry average and 8 touchdowns. C.J. Gable and Stan Havili are back and should be able to showcase more of their running skills in 2010.

Senior wide receiver Ron Johnson returns following a 2009 with only 34 catches for 378 yards and 3 touchdowns. Sophomore Brice Butler had 20 catches in 2009 with 2 touchdowns.

The Trojans averaged 27 points and 389 offensive yards in 2009. That was 11 points and 66 yards less than the clubs total in 2008.

Defensively USC allowed 341 defensive yards and 20 points per game last season. That was 120 yards and 11 points more than their unit allowed in 2008.

The team hosted WAC club San Jose St to open the season in 2009 and pounded them 56-3 as 35 point betting favorites.

Hawaii returns 5 offensive starters and 7 on the defense from a disappointing 2009 team that produced 6 wins and 7 losses and failed to make a bowl game.

The Warriors went bad quickly on offense in June Jones second year at SMU. The Warriors could only average a measly 23 points per game which was a full 20 points less than June Jones’ last year with the club.

Junior quarterback Bryant Moniz returns under center. The pizza delivery walk on was the #4 quarterback last summer but saw action as the starter due to injuries. Moniz completed just 57.1% of his passes with 14 touchdowns and 10 picks in 2009.

Hawaii’s top 2 wide receivers are back in 2010 and both enter their senior years. Greg Salas had 106 catches in 2009 with 8 touchdowns and a 15 yards per catch average. Kealoah Pilares contributed with 66 catches for 690 yards and 4 touchdowns.

On the ground senior Alex Green is back following a productive 2009 that saw him average 5.3 yards per rush.

Defensively the Warriors allowed their opponents a very high 30 points per game. Opposing teams torched Hawaii for an average of 438 yards per game with 337 coming through the air.

When Hawaii stepped up in competition in 2009 they were pounded by Fresno St that produced 42 points. Boise St 54 and Wisconsin 51 on their defense.
