It is called the Midsummer Derby and it’s the Travers Stakes to be run at Saratoga on Saturday.
A field of 11 three year olds will race at the classic distance of 1 ¼ mile on the dirt track racing surface of Saratoga race track for a $1 million dollar purse in this Grade 1 stakes.
The Travers is scheduled as race 12 on the Saratoga card with a post time of 5:46PM Eastern and you can watch it on TVG.

The weather forecast at Saratoga on Saturday calls for mostly sunny skies with a high a very comfortable 81 degrees.

A Little Warm is ridden by John Velasquez and is trained by Anthony Dutrow. He is coming off a win over this Saratoga dirt surface in the Grade 2 Jim Dandy Stakes run at a 1 1/16th of a mile back on July 31st.

Miner’s Reserve is ridden by David Cohen and trained by Nick Zito. He will be the early speed in this race and I expect his ground saving ride to hold the final piece of the Superfecta.
He was second last time out in the Grade 2 Jim Dandy Stakes and has posted three straight in the money finishes.
