Kick off time from Chicago is set for 8:30PM Eastern Time with live television to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oakland and the Chicago markets. NFL Network will provide national tape delayed coverage of this game on Sunday night at 11PM Eastern Time.
The LVSC NFL odds makers have set the betting line in this game and it was the hometown Chicago Bears coming in as 3 point favorites with a total of 35.
The money has come early from the NFL betting public on the side of the Silver and Black as the Chicago Bears are now favored by 1 point. The total saw movement downward to 33 ½.
NFL money line gamblers can bet the side of the Chicago Bears at -115 with the road underdog Oakland Raiders returning -105 to win outright without the need for points on their side.
The Oakland Raiders hit the winners circle in their first preseason game with the 17-9 victory last week at the Dallas Cowboys. So the Raiders must now travel on back to back weeks.
It was not a pretty site offensively for the Raiders in victory. The club did all their damage in the fourth quarter with the third and fourth stringers in for both clubs.
Jason Campbell completed just 7 of 13 passes for 49 yards with 0 touchdowns and 0 picks. Kyle Boller the backup for Campbell was inserted and completed 12 of 21 for 148 yards and a touchdown. The Raiders are hit with injuries in their quarterback position as backup Charlie Frye broke his wrist and will miss significant action. Bruce Gradkowski is sporting a groin injury and will not play this game. Colt Brennan the second year man from Hawaii may see some action.
The Raiders ran Michael Bennett 12 times against he Cowboys and the veteran gained 68 yards. Bennett also caught a ball out of the backfield for 33 yards. Michael Bush saw 7 carries for 31 yards.
The Raiders receivers did not show much vertical game last week as most passes went for short yardage. It was pretty ugly.
Defensively the Raiders looked good against the Cowboys allowing no offensive touchdowns and sacking Dallas Cowboys quarterbacks 6 times.
Chicago opened up play in the preseason with a 25-10 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
The Bears suffered a setback to their quarterback rotation as backup third year QB Caleb Hanie suffered a sprained right shoulder and will miss this game. It is unknown whether Hanie can make the regular season opener.
Rookie Dan LeFevour from Central Michigan should see extended playing time. LeFevour struggled in the preseason opener completing 2 of 10 passes for 21 yards and three sacks. LeFevour often picked apart the bad defenses of the MAC conference in college but when asked to step up against BCS schools he often spit out the bit.
Former New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs backup Matt Gutierrez was signed as insurance. Gutierrez saw time last preseason with the Chiefs and completed 25 of 40 passes for 299 yards two touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
Starting quarterback Jay Cutler completed 2 of 2 passes for 21 yards but was sacked 3 times. With poor protection Cutler was pulled from the game to prevent injury.
Chicago did very little on the ground last week against the Chargers accumulating just 48 yards on 21 carries for a 2.3 yards per carry average.
Wide out Devin Aromashodu had a solid game catching 4 passes for 78 yards with a touchdown.
The Bears defense allowed San Diego to accumulate 335 yards. Starting running back rookie Ryan Mathews out of Fresno St was able to gain 50 yards on 9 carries running inside against the Bears defense.
