Dallas Cowboys versus San Diego Chargers NFL Network TV Saturday August 21st 2010 Preseason Pro Football Odds Sports Betting Pick Preview

The Dallas Cowboys will travel from their training camp this week in Oxnard California down south to face the San Diego Chargers in an NFL pro football preseason game on Saturday night.

Kick off time from San Diego is scheduled for 9PM Eastern Time with live television only to the San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego and Dallas Cowboys home markets. National television will be available on a tape delayed basis by the NFL Network on Sunday afternoon at 4PM Eastern Time.

The LVSC NFL odds makers have set the point spread in this game and it was the home town San Diego Chargers lined as a 2 ½ point favorite with the over under coming in at 37 ½.

The early money from the NFL betting public has come on the side of the home team as the Chargers are now favored by 3 points. The total saw movement downward to 36 ½.

Money line gamblers playing the side of the favored San Diego Chargers will lay -150 odds with the road underdog Dallas Cowboys returning +130 to win this game without taking the points.

The Dallas Cowboys have begun work this week in Oxnard to improve their offensive performance and get the timing down with Tony Romo and his receivers.

During the preseason quarterback Tony Romo has completed 9 of 17 passes for 111 yards no touchdowns and no interceptions and has been sacked three times.

Backup Jon Kitna has put up good numbers completing 66.7% of his passes for 152 yards. Second year man Stephen McGee has not been good this preseason completing only 48.3% of his passes.

On the ground in the preseason the Cowboys have amassed only a 3.0 yards per carry average. Third string back Tashard Choice has gained 50 yards on 12 carries to lead the Cowboys.

Sam Hurd has 5 catches in the preseason with a 12.2 yards per catch average. Miles Austin has 3 catches for 49 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball Dallas has been impressive on third downs allowing their opponents only 4 of 25 conversions. They have 11 sacks and are allowing opponents to rush for only 3.8 yards a carry.

The Chargers opened up their preseason with a 25-10 victory against the Chicago Bears.

Phillip Rivers saw limited time under center but completed 4 of 6 passing for 62 yards and a touchdown. Veteran Billy Volek was just 7 of 14 for 77 yards. Rookie Jonathan Cromton out of Tennessee is the teams third string quarterback and completed only 6 of 11 passes for 81 yards with 0 touchdowns and 1 interception.

Rookie running back Ryan Mathews out of Fresno St made an impressive debut for the Chargers with a solid 5.6 yards per carry average on 9 carries with a long of 18 yards. Curtis Brinkley a rookie from Syracuse is fighting for a job and had 36 yards on 5 attempts.

Veteran Legedu Naanee had 1 catch for 28 yards for San Diego. Newly acquired Josh Reed from Buffalo debuted with a catch for 19 yards. The club amassed 215 yards though the air in victory.

Defensively the Chargers defense was impressive allowing Chicago just 216 offensive yards with only a 2.3 yards per rushing attempt against them.
