The New England Patriots will travel in a week 2 NFL preseason encounter with the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night.

Third string Zac Robinson with awful protection hit on 3 of 8 for 48 yards no touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Robinson blessed with good blocking and competing against bad Big 12 defenses had the pleasure of plenty of time in college to hold the ball and find open receivers. That’s not the case in the pros as he must make quicker decisions.
The Patriots were hit with awful news as staring defensive end Ty Warren was lost for the season with a hip injury.
The Atlanta Falcons are coming off a 20-10 victory against the Kansas City Chiefs this past Friday night. In little action first string quarterback Matt Ryan competed 3 of 6 passes for 34 yards no touchdowns and picks.
Backup Chris Redman finished 4 of 7 for just 34 yards. Third string and second year quarterback John Parker Wilson from Alabama contributed with 8 of 16 passing for 80 yards.
Running back Michael Turner had just 4 carries in the first preseason contest but managed 29 yards. Backup Jason Snelling was no impressive with only 24 yards on 11 carries. The Falcons running attack behind Turner struggled as the team managed only a 2.7 yards per carry average on 37 carries.
Former Arizona St running back Dmitri Nance had two rushing short yardage touchdowns but could only manage 8 yards on his other 5 carries.
Veteran backup running back Jerious Norwood missed week 1 with a hip injury.
Atlanta’s defense forced three Kansas City turnovers and the offense played turnover free football. A troubling stat for Atlanta is they allowed the Chiefs to convert on 8 of 16 on third down.
The Falcons were very sloppy committing 8 penalties for 61 yards.
