With former #2 quarterback David Carr off to San Francisco it will be former Indianapolis backup Jim Sorgi as the Giants backup to Manning. Sorgi has seen regular season action in 15 games over his 6 year career and is a 63.5% career passer with 6 touchdowns and 1 interception.
Second year pro Rhett Bomar a 2009 5th round pick from Sam Houston St is the clubs #3 option. Bomar did not attempt a pass last season. Last preseason Bomar appeared in 2 games and went just 4 of 9 for 61 yards no touchdowns and 1 interception with 2 sacks.
The Giants are solid at the running back position with Brandon Jacobs at the starting position and is backed up by Ahmad Bradshaw. The receivers line up with Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith as the starters with Mario Manningham and Derek Hagan as the backups. The Jets backfield features Shonn Green and veteran LaDanian Tomlinson. L.T. was acquired in the off season after a very poor year with the Chargers where he was well under 4 yards per carry in 2009. Rookie Joe McKnight from USC will get a shot as the #3 back. Three year pro Chauncey Washington out of USC will get a look.
The Jets receivers will be Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards as the starters. Holmes was acquired from Pittsburgh in the off season. Veterans Jerricho Cotchery and Laveranues Coles will back them up. Rookies Jeff Cumberland from Illinois and Vic Hall from Virginia will get a look.
