The Boston Celtics will look to close out the pesky Orlando Magic when they play game 6 of their best of 7 Eastern conference finals playoff series on Friday night.
Start time from Boston is set for 8:30PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by ESPN.
The point spread for game 6 was set by the LVSC NBA odds makers and it was the home team Boston Celtics coming in as a 3 point favorite with the over under coming in at 188 ½.
The early money from the betting public has been Orlando Magic money as the Boston Celtics is currently a 2 ½ point favorite. The total has seen early movement downward as the game is hung at 188.
Money line gamblers on the side of the favored Boston Celtics will be dealt -145 odds with the road underdog Orlando Magic bringing back +130 to force a game 7 with a win on Friday without the need for taking the points.
Orlando has extended this series to force a game 6 off their 113-92 victory against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday as a 4 ½ point betting favorite.
The Magic enjoyed their best shooting game of this series hitting on 52.2% of their shots. Orlando finally revealed their good three point shooting form in this playoff series as the team converted on 13 of 25 from beyond the arc. They held Boston to only 43.1% shooting from the floor. Orlando dominated the glass by winning the rebounding margin 52-36 in victory.
The Magic got another good performance from guard Jameer Nelson who contributed with 24 points on 6 of 10 shooting from the field and 4 of 5 from the three point line. His confidence has shot up following his key shots late in Orlando’s game 4 victory.
Dwight Howard turned in another good performance in game 5 with 21 points on 7 of 12 shooting and 10 rebounds.
J.J. Redick gave the Magic a lift from the bench with 14 points on 3 of 6 from the field and 6 of 7 from the free throw line.
The Celtics got a good game from bench player Rasheed Wallace who scored 21 points in 18 minutes with 7 of 9 from the floor.
The Celtics old three in Garnett, Allen and Pierce were off hitting for a combined 11 of 33 in defeat.
The Celtics may be without center Kendrick Perkins who played only 16 minutes before being ejected in game 5. His behavior on the court could bring down a suspension for game 6. Perkins was hit with two technical fouls on Wednesday giving him a total of 7 in the playoffs which would bring down a 1 game suspension unless it is overturned by the NBA.
Glen Big Baby Davis was the recipient of a Dwight Howard elbow that gave him a concussion. Davis will be undergoing tests and is questionable for game 6.
Boston will be playing their 4th game in 8 nights when they take the court for game 6. The Celtics are an old team and all regular season has looked a step slow and very bad when they played many games in a short period of time.
As we wrote prior to game 4 we felt this Celtics team was built for 6 furlongs and based on this bad schedule with 1 days rest between games the team could be very vulnerable in a game 6 and 7 if necessary.
Boston is in deep trouble and I would not be surprised if they are the first team to blow a 3-0 series lead in NBA history.
Trend: The Under is 10-3 in their previous 13 meetings
