Dallas faced elimination in game 5 and survived with their 103-81 home victory as 5-point favorites. The Spurs had an awful shooting game in defeat with 35.9% from the field and only 3 of 16 from three. The Spurs were sloppy with 18 turnovers. The Mavericks were aggressive on the boards winning the rebounding battle by a 60-53 margin.

The San Antonio Spurs are telling the media that they are treating game 6 as a game 7 as the team hosts the Mavericks on Thursday. If a game 7 were necessary it would be played in Dallas. Tim Duncan had a poor game 5 with only 11 points on 3 of 9 shooting. After a great start to this series Duncan has cooled off to 4 of 18 and 15 points combined over his past two games. Manu Ginobili had a poor night making just 2 of 7 shots for 7 points. The Spurs starters did not see many minutes in game 5 as Duncan had 24, Ginobili 18 and Tony Parker only 25.

Eric Dampier was sent to the bench and saw no minutes in game 5 as Caron Butler was inserted in the lineup. Dampier gave the Mavericks one decent game in this series and nothing else. Butler responded big time with 35 points on 12 of 24 shooting and 11 rebounds in 37 minutes. Nowitzki contributed with 15 points on 7 of 14 shooting. The two games were very close in San Antonio with the Spurs winning both games with no margin greater than 4 points. The Mavericks had issues offensively in the two games in San Antonio with just 90 points scored in game 3 and 89 points in game 4.

Trend: The Under is 4-0 in their past 4 playoff meetings
