The Florida Derby is scheduled as race 11 on the Gulfstream card today with a 6:20PM Eastern Time post and you can watch it on HRTV. The Florida Derby will be contested over the Gulfstream Park main track going 1 1/8th of a mile for three year olds. Miner’s Reserve will be ridden by Kent Desormeaux and is trained by Nick Zito. This three year old is coming off a nice win against straight maidens on February 27th. Desormeaux was aboard for the 5-½-length victory and he posted a nice 101 Beyer going a mile at the Gulfstream Park main surface. He enters this race with a good workout over this track back on March 14th. Miner’s Reserve is sired by Mineshaft and is making his third lifetime start and second start going distance.
