It was a laugher for the number one seeded Kentucky Wildcats in their opening round game on Thursday night against the East Tennessee St Buccaneers. Kentucky delivered the 100-71 knock out blow as 18-½ point betting favorites. The Wildcats opened up a 54-26 halftime lead and never looked back. Kentucky made 51% of their shots and 45% from beyond the arc. Kentucky defended the arc limiting the Buccaneers to just 4 of 16 from three. Guard Eric Bledsoe had a marvelous game with 29 points on 9 of 12 from the floor and an amazing 8 of 10 from beyond the arc. East Tennessee St was no match for Kentucky as starters Wall, Bledsoe and Cousins combined for 23 of 29 from the floor and 68 points in the rout.

Wake Forest needed overtime to qualify for the second round of the NCAA Tournament with their 81-80 victory as a 5-½ point underdog against Texas. Wake hit on 42% of their shots but made only 15 of 24 from the charity stripe. The Demon Deacons were carried by a good defensive and rebounding effort. Texas only made 26 of 69 of their shots for a 37% shooting night. Wake Forest destroyed the Longhorns on the boards as the Demon Deacons held the 56-31 rebounding advantage. Wake Forest will need to clean up its act with ball security as the team turned it over 20 times to the Longhorns 5. Sophomore forward Aminu Al-Farouq led the Demon Deacons with 20 points in victory.

Kentucky is a much better shooting team than the Demon Deacons as the favorite converts on 48% of their shots from the field compared to just 43.8% by the underdog. Wake Forest is among the worst teams in the NCAA Tournament from the charity stripe converting on just 65.9% from the charity stripe.

Trend: Wake Forest is 2-0 to the over in their past 2 games
