Wake hit on 42% of their shots but made only 15 of 24 from the charity stripe. The Demon Deacons were carried by a good defensive and rebounding effort. Texas only made 26 of 69 of their shots for a 37% shooting night. Wake Forest destroyed the Longhorns on the boards as the Demon Deacons held the 56-31 rebounding advantage. Wake Forest will need to clean up its act with ball security as the team turned it over 20 times to the Longhorns 5. Sophomore forward Aminu Al-Farouq led the Demon Deacons with 20 points in victory.

Kentucky is a much better shooting team than the Demon Deacons as the favorite converts on 48% of their shots from the field compared to just 43.8% by the underdog. Wake Forest is among the worst teams in the NCAA Tournament from the charity stripe converting on just 65.9% from the charity stripe.
