These MAAC conference clubs are meeting for the second time this regular season. The teams met in Fairfield back on January 16th and it was the Siena Saints with the 81-73 victory as a 4-point favorite. The return meeting was played on February 8th at Siena and once again the Saints earned victory with a close 69-67 decision as an 11 ½ point favorite.

The top seeded Siena Saints enter play with 26-6 overall record and impressive 17-1 versus MAAC opponents. The team has strung together 4 straight wins after a bad loss at Butler during Bracket Busters 70-53 back on February 20th. The team opened play in the MAAC tournament with a 78-61 pounding of Manhattan as a 14-½ point favorite. They did not shoot well in the game with only 38.2% shooting. They followed that performance up with a 72-62 victory over Rider in the semifinals. Again the shooting was not impressive as the Saints converted on just 41.8% of their shots. To their credit the Saints have played well defensively limiting three of their four past opponents to 39.1% shooting or worse. Senior forward Alex Franklin has played well averaging over 20 points a game in the MAAC tournament. He has reached the free throw line 27 times in the two games.

Fairfield was the number two seed in the MAAC tournament with a conference record of 13-5 and 22-9 overall. They share a common opponent in Maryland but the Stags were pounded by the Terrapins 71-42 in their third game of the year. Fairfield enters play winners of four straight and 6 of their past 7. They began play in the MAAC tournament with a 67-57 win over Canisius as a 6-point favorite. The Stags followed up that performance with a 69-63 victory over Niagara as a 1-½ point underdog. Fairfield held the Purple Eagles to just 37.3% shooting in victory. Freshman guard Derek Needham has contributed nicely with 46 points combined in both MAAC tournament games.

Trend: Fairfield Stags are 8-1 ATS in their past 9 games
