This will be the third meeting between the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Hornets on the season. The season series is tied at a game a piece with the Suns winning 124-104 on their home court as a 6-½ point favorite on November 11th. The Hornets defeated the Suns on their home court 110-103 as an 8-point favorite 8 days later on November 19th.

The Hornets were hit with major bad news on Monday as leading scorer and point guard Chris Paul will miss at least the next month as he will underdog knee surgery. Paul has a tear in his cartilage that will force the Hornets star to miss extended action. Paul was out of action when the Hornets defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 109-102 on Saturday night. The Hornets got balanced scoring in the absence of their floor leader with three starters scoring 20 points or more in the game. Rookie Darren Collison will start in place of Paul. Collison had an outstanding game against the Grizzlies contributing with 17 points on 18 assists in victory. The rookie averages just a bit more than 17 minutes a game and was used for nearly the entire game on Saturday as he logged in 47 minutes.

After the Suns big win last Thursday night against the Dallas Mavericks they were able to follow that up with a win on Sunday at Houston. The Suns disposed of the Rockets 115-111 in overtime. The team shot the ball very well hitting on over 48% from the field and limiting the Rockets to just 37% shooting. Steve Nash struggled from the field last night hitting on just 2 of 10 from the field for 11 points in 41 minutes of play. Amare Stoudemire had a huge game with 36 points on 12 of 22 shooting and 11 boards. The 22 shot attempts were the most he has had all season. Stoudemire averages just a bit more than 14 shots a game. Phoenix is just 2-7 straight up and against the spread in their past 9 back ends of back to backs.

Trend: New Orleans is 5-0 to the over in their past 5 games
