The Dallas Mavericks will take it to the road to face Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns in an NBA pro basketball game on Thursday night. Tip off time in Phoenix is scheduled for 10:35PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by TNT.

The LVSC NBA odds makers have set the opening point spread in this contest and the home team Phoenix Suns were opened as a 1 point favorite with the over under coming in at 216 ½.

The early money from the NBA betting public has come in on the home favorite, as the Phoenix Suns are currently a 2-½ point betting favorite. The total has seen early movement towards the under, as the over under is currently lined at 216 for the NBA betting public to play into.

NBA money line gamblers can make a play on the favored Phoenix Suns at –115 with the road underdog Dallas Mavericks returning -105 to pull off the upset victory with the point spread not a factor in the wager.

These Western Conference clubs have met once on this season with the Dallas Mavericks squeaking out a 102-101 home victory as a 4-½ point favorite way back in early December.

The Phoenix Suns are in the tank right now as they are losers of 7 of their past 9 games. They are having problems putting the ball into the bucket. The Suns are coming off a 114-109 home loss to the Charlotte Bobcats. The Bobcats were on the back end of a back to back having played the night before in the mile high altitude of Denver. Entering the Phoenix game the Bobcats were a miserable 3-17 on the highway this season. The Suns are without Leandro Barbosa who is out after having surgery on his wrist for a ganglion cyst. He could be out for up to 6 weeks. Jason Richardson has struggled big time for the Suns from the floor. The 8 year veteran shooting guard has hit just 28 of 68 from the field over his past 5 games. His three point shooting has been atrocious as he has hit just 5 of 21 during that span of games.

The Dallas Mavericks have won 4 of their past 5 games. They are coming off a 108-107 home victory over Milwaukee on Tuesday as a 6-½ point favorite. The Mavericks were not very good on the defensive side of the ball allowing the Bucks to hit on over 53% of their shots. But it was a tough spot for Dallas as they were playing their first home game off a long 5 game Eastern road trip. Dirk Nowitzki had a good game against the Bucks finishing with 28 points from the field and 8 rebounds. He has averaged over 25 points a game over his past 5 ballgames.

The teams have played some high scoring games in Phoenix as the total has gone over in 5 of their past 6 meetings in the Valley of the Sun.

Trend: Phoenix Suns are 2-9 ATS in their past 11 games
