Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers will look to build on their win at Washington last night when they tackle the Indiana Pacers in an NBA pro basketball game on Wednesday night. Tip off time in Indiana is scheduled for 7PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by the NBA package.
The LVSC NBA odds makers have set the opening point spread in this game and the LA Lakers were opened as a 5 ½ point favorite with the over under coming in at 211.
The early money from the NBA betting public has come in on the road favorite, as the LA Lakers are currently a 6-point favorite. The total has seen early movement towards the under, as the over under is currently lined at 209 ½ to bet into.
NBA money line gamblers can make a play on the favored LA Lakers at –220 with the home underdog Indiana Pacers returning +180 to win this game without the benefit of getting the points.
The Indiana Pacers and LA Lakers are making their first of two meetings on Wednesday at Indiana. The teams split last year’s meetings with both clubs winning close decisions at home. Both games were very high scoring and went way over the total. LA won at home 121-119 and the Pacers got the victory on their home court 118-117. The Lakers shot the bell very well against the Pacers hitting on 51% at Indiana and 56% at Staples Center.
The Lakers responded well after their loss to Toronto on Sunday with a 115-103 thumping of the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night. The Lakers bigs had a good game against the weak front line of the Wizards as Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom all combined for 53 points on 21 of 30 shooting in victory. Kobe had a good shooting night with 26 points on 8 of 15 from the field.
LA will be in a tough spot in this game playing their third game in 4 nights and facing the back end of a back to back. The Lakers have won and covered their past two back ends of back to backs.
The Indiana Pacers are 10-11 on their home court this season. The team is coming off a nice 109-98 victory at the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday. Forward Danny Granger had an excellent game hitting on 11 of 20 for 26 points. This four-year player leads the Pacers in scoring averaging over 23 points a game. With Ron Artest locking in on Granger the Pacers will need contributions from Troy Murphy, Brandon Rush and Mike Dunleavy. Murphy has struggled from the field hitting on just 22 of 53 over his past 5 games. Dunleavy has only averaged 9 points a game over a 5 game span in 26 average minutes.
The Pacers are a jump shooting team so the Lakers will need good rotation to cover the Pacers perimeter shooters. Point guard Derrick Fisher could be a huge liability in this game for the Lakers with his very slow rotation towards outside shooters.
Trend: Indiana is 6-0 to the under in their past 6 games
