The Atlanta Falcons will look to bounce back in the win column when they take on the New York Jets in an NFL football game on Sunday afternoon. Running back Thomas Jones has gotten the bulk of the carries and is producing a 4.5 yards a carry average. With Leon Washington out for the season due to injury it has been Shonn Greene seeing action in the backfield and has contributed with a 5.0 yards a carry average on the year. The Jets are just 3-3 at home this season. The Atlanta Falcons are sitting at 6-7 on the season. The Falcons have lost 4 of their past 5 games and coming off a 26-23 defeat at home to New Orleans last week. The Falcons have been a bad road team this season with a 1-5 record on the highway. Starting quarterback Matt Ryan has been sidelined for the past two games with turf toe and has been named as a game time decision. The reports are that the team will assess their second year quarterback during his warm up prior to the start of the game to determine his status. Back up Chris Redmond saw action the past two weeks in relief of Ryan. Redmond was 23 of 34 for 303 yards a touchdown and an interception last week in the teams loss to New Orleans. Redmond did a good job of moving the ball on the Saints. Two weeks back Redmond completed a game-winning touchdown pass in the closing seconds to beat Tampa Bay. Running back Michael Turner has been bothered by an injured ankle and has missed the past two games. Turner like Ryan is a game time decision, as the team will evaluate his warm up prior to the start of the game to determine is status. His backup is Jason Snelling who only contributed with 72 yards in 20 carries the past two games and will be running against the top run defense in the league. Atlanta has not been good defensively this season allowing 23 points and 257 passing yards per game ranking 30th in the league. The question in this game is will Jets head coach Rex Ryan trust his young rookie quarterback in this big game and allow him to work against a bad secondary? Or will Ryan stick to his run game against a Falcons rush defense that has performed well this season?
