The San Francisco 49ers in a short week will travel out east to compete against the Philadelphia Eagles in an NFL football game on Sunday afternoon. Kick off time in Philadelphia is scheduled for 4:15PM Eastern Time with regional television coverage provided by Fox. This game was moved to the 4:15PM Eastern Time slot by the league due to inclement weather in Philadelphia. The LVSC NFL odds makers have set the opening point spread in this game and the Philadelphia Eagles opened as a 7 ½ point favorite with the over under coming in at 42 ½. The early money from the NFL betting public has come in on the home favorite, as the Philadelphia Eagles are currently a 9-point favorite. The total has seen early action from the NFL bettors towards the over, as the over under is currently lined at 43 ½. NFL money line gamblers can make a play on the favored Philadelphia Eagles at –475 with the road underdog San Francisco 49ers bringing back +395 to win this game with no need for getting the points.
The Eagles return home after a huge 45-38 road victory at the New York Giants giving them first place in the NFC East with three games remaining. The Eagles have won four straight games. Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb had a good game against the Giants last week hitting on 17 of 26 for 275 yards two touchdowns and an interception. Wide receiver and special team return specialist DeSean Jackson has been explosive with 6 catches last week for 178 yards and a touchdown. The second year receiver has averaged an incredible 18.9 yards per reception on the season. With starting running back Brian Westbrook out with injury LeSean McCoy has saw the bulk of the carries. The rookie running back has struggled in his past two games with just 30 yards in his past 16 carries. The Eagles defense last week gave up over 500 yards to the Giants. The team allows 21 points per game. The San Francisco 49ers have been a bad road team with a 1-5 record on the highway. They are coming off a 24-9 victory on Monday night football against the Arizona Cardinals. The team’s offense could only muster 24 points despite getting 7 turnovers from Arizona. It was amazing to watch that Arizona had cut the game to a 1-possession contest in the fourth quarter despite having a game gift wrapped to San Francisco by the Cardinals. The game was in question due to the play of Alex Smith at quarterback. Smith was only 19 of 35 for 144 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Smith could only average 4.1 yards per passing attempt, which was not very good against a team giving away a football game. San Francisco is 0-4 on the road in Alex Smith’s 4 road starts this season. Running back Frank Gore got 25 carries against Arizona for 167 yards with a touchdown. This was only Gore’s third game with 20 or more carries on the season. Defensively the San Francisco 49ers are poor against the pass allowing 243 yards per game ranking 27th in the NFL.
