When these two NFC East rivals met in their first meeting in week 1 at New York it was the Giants defeating the Redskins 23-17 as a 5-½ point home favorite. Giants quarterback Eli Manning had a good game passing for 248 yards on the Redskins good defensive secondary. The Giants defense is struggling right now as this unit allowed another 40 spot. It was Philadelphia defeating the Giants last week 45-38 on Sunday Night Football. In their first meeting the Eagles put up 40 on the Giants. The Giants allowed 297 yards passing and many big plays against their revamped defense. New York could not generate enough pressure on McNabb, which led to big plays. Good passing offenses have been torching the Giants defense. The Giants wasted a great game from Eli Manning who hit on 27 of 38 for 391 yards three touchdowns and no picks. It was a good bounce back game for Manning off a poor effort the week before against Dallas. On the ground Brandon Jacob contributed with 60 yards on 15 carries last week but had a huge fumble in the game returned for the touchdown. The Giants are 7-6 on the season and 1 game behind Dallas for the last playoff spot with 3 games remaining. The Washington Redskins sit at 4-9 and have been eliminated from the playoffs. The team has shown improvement offensively in recent weeks. The Redskins went way out west to face the Oakland Raiders and came away with a 34-13 victory. Quarterback Jason Campbell hit on 16 of 28 last week with 222 yards two touchdowns and no picks. Campbell has done a good job moving the team the past three weeks and has passed for 7 touchdowns in his past three games. With injuries to Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts the Redskins are now looking at second year pro Quinton Ganther at running back. Ganther had 14 carries last week for 50 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Prior to the Oakland game the Redskins dropped a 3-point loss to both Philadelphia and New Orleans and a 1-point loss to Dallas on November 22nd. On the defensive side of the ball the Redskins allow just 19.3 points per game. They only allow 188 yards passing ranking 4th in the NFL.
