The team sits at 5-8 on the season and have been officially eliminated from the playoffs. Starting quarterback Jake Delhomme has missed the past two games with a broken finger. Head coach John Fox has announced that Delhomme is day to day. The veteran quarterback has hit on just 55.5% of his passes with 8 touchdowns and 18 interceptions on the year. Matt Moore in relief of Delhomme is coming off a 15 of 30 passing performance against New England for 197 yards a touchdown and no picks. The Panthers were only able to amass 25 rushing attempts on the game despite a good yards a carry average. But the Panthers failed to sustain drives under Matt Moore at quarterback going only 3 of 13 on third down conversions, which led to their defeat. The Panthers still play hard on the defensive end allowing the Patriots to only put up 20 points and forced three turnovers. Carolina is sixth in the league in pass defense allowing only 192 yards per game.
