The LVSC NFL odds makers have set the opening point spread in this game and the Kansas City Chiefs opened as a 2 ½ point favorite with the over under coming in at 38 ½. The early money from the NFL betting public has come in on the road underdog Cleveland Browns, as the Kansas City Chiefs are currently a 2-point favorite. The total has seen downward steam from the NFL betting public, as the over under is currently lined at 36 ½ for the NFL betting public to play into. NFL money line gamblers can make a play on the favored Kansas City Chiefs at –130 with the road underdog Cleveland Browns bringing back +110 to win this game without the need of getting points.
The Cleveland Browns sit with a disappointing 2-11 record this season. The team is coming off a 13-6 home victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers in front of a national audience. The Browns defense stepped up in a short week limiting the Steelers to just 75 yards on the ground and 141 through the air. Josh Cribbs had a good game rushing the football in the wildcat formation with 87 yards on eight rushing attempts. Cribbs is the only explosive offensive player on the Browns with a big play threat and must get more opportunities in the Browns inept offense running the wildcat. Starting quarterback Brady Quinn had yet another miserable game hitting on only 6 of 19 for 90 yards. Quinn’s stats in the Chargers game two weeks ago were posted in garbage time when the Chargers held a 27-7 lead. Quinn has only hit on 52% of his passes with 8 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Defensively the Browns allow 24 points per game. The team gives up big plays in the passing game allowing 12.7 yards per pass completion ranking 30th in the NFL. Kansas City is 3-10 on the year and is coming off a bad 16-10 loss at home to the Buffalo Bills. The Chiefs were trying to bounce back from a 44-13 loss the week before to Denver and had a good opportunity to make amends with the home folks with an inept Ryan Fitzpatrick under center for Buffalo. Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel threw 4 interceptions in defeat last week. Cassel has hit on 54% of his passes with 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He has only passed for one touchdown and seven picks over his past three games. Cassel will have one his weapons in the passing game back as number one receiver Dwayne Bowe will be back in the lineup after missing four games due to a substance abuse suspension. With Larry Johnson released by the team for a 2.7 yards a carry average it has been second year pro Jamaal Charles as the lead back for the Chiefs. Charles had a good game on the ground with 143 yards rushing last week on 20 carries and a touchdown. The Chiefs have struggled on defense allowing 26.3 points per game. They can’t stop the run or pass allowing 148 yards rushing per game and 237 through the air.
