The Dallas Cowboys will look to bounce back in the win column when they face the undefeated New Orleans Saints in an NFL football game on Saturday night in prime time. Kick off time in New Orleans is scheduled for 8:20PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by the NFL Network. The Dallas Cowboys sit at 8-5 on the season and coming off at 20-17 loss to the San Diego Chargers at home last week. The team has now dropped two straight games in December and continues their swoon down the stretch of a season. The Cowboys have done a better job of ball security with just 1 turnover in their past 3 games. A huge spot in the Chargers game was the Cowboys inability to get into the end zone on three tries at the one-yard line turning the ball over on downs and missing a huge opportunity for 7 points. Starting quarterback Tony Romo has played well in the teams past three games passing for 7 touchdown passes and no picks. He has hit on no worse than 62% accuracy during this stretch. Running back Marion Barber has put up poor numbers in the teams past two games gaining 83 yards on 29 carries, which averages well under 3 yards, a carry. Barber had three shots at the one last week against the Chargers and could not punch it into the end zone. Second year pro Felix Jones saw 10 carries against the Chargers with 51 yards. Jones has been a bit inconsistent on the ground this season. His 10 carries last week were tied for the most rushes on the season. The issue with the Cowboys run game is that Marion Barber does not run with the power he once had. Barber was once outstanding in breaking tackles and extending runs but he now looks like a pedestrian running back that once is squared by an opposing linebacker can be taken down into the ground. The Cowboys defense may be without DeMarcus Ware who sprained his neck during the San Diego game. The Cowboys last week allowed Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers to pass for 268 yards. Dallas could not make a stop in a critical 15 play drive that ate much of the clock last week as San Diego was able to extend to a two score lead with 2 minutes left in the game. Dallas allows 17.9 points per game but 11 yards per completed pass ranking 21st in the league. The New Orleans Saints are a perfect 11-0 this season. They are coming off a 26-23 win at division rival the Atlanta Falcons last week. The Saints defense came up with key stops late in the game to hold their 3-point lead. Quarterback Drew Brees is coming off another accurate game hitting on 31 of 40 for 296 yards three touchdowns and no picks in victory. Brees has only 1 interception over his past 4 games. On the ground the Saints get production from Pierre Thomas with a 5.3 yards a carry average, Reggie Bush at 5.0 a carry and Mike Bell at 4.2. Bell missed the Falcons game sporting a knee injury. On the defensive side the Saints continues to give up major chunks of yardage. Falcons backup quarterback Chris Redmond passed for over 300 yards last week and two weeks back it was Jason Campbell passing for 367 yards. Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has been sharp and could put up big numbers on the Saints secondary. The Saints average an incredible 35.8 points per game and allows 21.1.
