In their first meeting this season it was the Eagles pounding the New York Giants 40-17 as a 3-point home underdog. The Eagles ran wild for 180 yards on the Giants defense and passed for 211. Quarterback Eli Manning threw 2 picks and were well behind very early in this game. The New York Giants are at 7-5 this season and have another must win game coming off their 31-24 win at home to the Dallas Cowboys. The Giants were greatly aided by a punt return and a run after a short pass by Brandon Jacobs last week. Eli Manning was not accurate last week hitting on only 44% of his passes last week. Manning has been bothered by a bad foot, which was injured in week 5. Brandon Jacob once again did not produce on the ground with just 39 yards on 13 carries. His production came in the pass game as he took a short pass from Eli Manning and with great space in front of him scampered for 74 yards for a touchdown. The Giants were aided by poor tackling by the Cowboys last week and will face a more fundamentally sound Eagles defense and special teams. The Giants secondary was torched last week for nearly 400 yards in the passing game. The Giants have been banged up in the secondary with two starters down and opposing teams have been exploiting them. The team gives up nearly 24 points a game. Philadelphia is 8-4 on the year and tied with the Dallas Cowboys for first place in the NFC East. The team is coming off an easy 34-7 victory over crippled Atlanta Falcons teams who played their #2 quarterback and were without starting running back Michael Turner. The team is winners of 3 straight games with two of those wins coming on the highway. Despite missing DeSean Jackson in the passing game last week quarterback Donovan McNabb hit on 14 of 25 with 238 yards a touchdown and no picks. With Michael Westbrook out with a concussion the Eagles have run by committee and were able squeeze out over 100 yards on the ground for a 4 yards a carry average. Michael Vick saw some action in the Wildcat and rushed for a 5-yard touchdown extending the team to a 20-0 lead. On the defensive side of the ball the Eagles allow 19.6 points per game. They don’t give up the big play against the pass as the team allows 9.6 yards a completion ranking 3rd in the NFL.
