Kansas City returns home after an embarrassing 43-13 loss at San Diego last week. The Chiefs bad secondary was absolutely torched by Phillip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers pass offense for 332 yards. The loss came after the Chiefs had won back to back games against the Oakland Raiders on the road and the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers at home winning 27-24. Starting quarterback Matt Cassel is hitting on just 55.6% of his passes with 13 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Cassel has had issues passing the football with 7 of his past 8 games with less than 60% accuracy. The Chiefs are still without leading wide receiver Dwayne Bowe who is suspended for substance abuse. Running back Jamaal Charles has filled in nicely for departed Larry Johnson. The ball carrier is averaging an impressive 5.2 yards per carry average on the season. He had a respectable 93 yards on 14 carries last week against San Diego. On the defensive side the Chiefs are very poor. They allow an average of 25.6 points per game and cannot stop the pass allowing 258 yards through the air per game ranking 29th in the league. The team allows a bunch of big plays as they give up an average of 13.2 yards per completion ranking 32nd and last in the NFL. Denver is 7-4 on the season and coming off a 26-6 home blowout win over the New York Giants on Thanksgiving night. The victory broke a 4 game losing streak with their most points scored in 5 games. Quarterback Kyle Orton entered the game with a bum ankle and led the team to victory with 18 of 28 passing with 245 yards a touchdown and an interception. Rookie running back Knowshon Moreno has played well over his past three games with 265 yards on 47 carries for a 5.6 yards per carry average. Defensively the Broncos allow just 17 points per game. The Broncos are good against the run allowing just 110 yards per game and only 3.9 yards per rush against average.
