When these teams met way back in week 2 in Seattle it was the Seahawks pounding the St Louis Rams 28-0 as a 7-point home favorite. The Rams were miserable on that day and despite a +2 turnover margin in the game could not put any points on the scoreboard. Seattle enters this game a disappointing 3-7 on the season and losers of two straight. The team has lost 4 of their past 5 games with their only victory coming at home against the lowly Detroit Lions. The Seahawks were embarrassed last week in their loss to the Minnesota Vikings last week 35-9. Seattle had just 4 rushing yards in defeat and their defense allowed 160 yards on the ground and 271 through the air in defeat. The Seahawks are now playing their third straight road game, which is very rare in the NFL since the Seahawks have not had a bye in between this trip. Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is hitting on 60% of his passes with 11 touchdowns and 7 interceptions on the season. The Seahawks were horrible last week on third downs converting just 1 of 10 and the time of possession for the Vikings was an incredible 42 minutes to just 18 for Seattle. With running back Julius Jones out with an injury last week the Seahawks could not run a lick aiding Hasselbeck in the passing game. Jones is averaging 3.7 yards a carry and has a bruised lung and is questionable for this game. Defensively the Seahawks allow 23 points per game and 236 yards through the air. The Seahawks secondary are 30th in the NFL allowing opposing quarterback to complete 67.8% of their passes. The Seahawks secondary are very poor tacklers, which opens the possibility of a big game from Rams running back Steven Jackson. St Louis is 1-9 on the season and coming off a hard fought 21-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week. Prior to that they gave New Orleans a competitive game at home losing 28-23. The Rams have played very hard the past three weeks. Rams running back Steven Jackson is averaging 4.8 yards a carry on the season. He has been very professional during a difficult season. Jackson has been listed as questionable for the game as he is experiencing back spasms. He has missed practice on three days this week. Jackson is a key player in the Rams offense and has rushed for over 100 yards in his past 4 games. Marc Bulger is out of this game with a broken leg. It will be Kyle Boller under center for St Louis. The seven-year pro has completed 57% of his passes with 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on the season with considerable action in three games this season. The Rams give up a very high 27 points per game this season. They have trouble stopping both the run and pass as opposing teams rush for 146 yards a game and pass for 238 yards a game on their defense. Opposing teams average 4.7 yards a carry on the Rams ranking 29th in the league. It’s just as bad against the pass as the Rams give up big plays allowing 11.6 yards per completed pass.
