The New York Giants will travel in a short week to face the Denver Broncos in an NFL football game in prime time on Thanksgiving Day night. Kick off time in Denver is scheduled for 8:20PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by the NFL Network. The LVSC NFL odds makers have set the opening point spread in this game and the road team New York Giants opened as a 2 ½ point favorite with the over under coming in at 41. The early money from the NFL betting public has come in on the road favorite, as the New York Giants are currently a 6-½ point favorite. The over under has seen early movement by the betting public towards the over, as the total is currently lined at 42 for the betting public to play into.
Despite blowing a 14 point fourth quarter lead the New York Giants defeated the Atlanta Falcons last week 34-31. The Giants pass defense and specifically their secondary has been hit with injuries to their unit. Matt Ryan was able to pass for 262 yards in the Falcons late rally. Eli Manning came off the bye week firing, as the signal caller hit on 25 of 39 passes for 384 yards three touchdowns and 1 interception. Manning was picking on a very weak Falcons secondary. A concern for the Giants running game is that starting ball carrier Brandon Jacobs injured his knee last week against Atlanta, which forced him to miss the overtime action. Jacobs is day to day in hopes of playing on Thursday. Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw has been running with a bad foot and has ran no better than 2.8 yards a carry over his past 4 games. The Giants have lost two straight road games allowing 48 at New Orleans and 40 to the Philadelphia Eagles. Denver is struggling with 4 straight losses and starting quarterback concerns. Kyle Orton is sporting a bad ankle and was forced into action on Sunday. Orton appeared to hobble worse on it as the game progressed. Orton completed 15 of 29 for 171 yards no touchdowns and an interception in defeat. The Broncos have run effectively over their past two games but where the Broncos has been bitten has been in turnover margin. Denver has committed 5 turnovers in their past 2 games and received 0 in return for a –5 turnover margin. Their offense has had problems putting up points with just 37 points scored during their 4 game losing streak. Teams have been running on the Denver defense with 550 yards rushed on Denver in their past three games.
Tony T’s Opinion: The Broncos have faced very good teams over the course of their 4 game losing streak. It appears that the Giants could be the weakest of the 5 teams the Broncos have faced in this five game stretch.. With the game in the mile high altitude it could play in the favor of the home team with strong emphasis placed on the run. This would make the Giants secondary very vulnerable in play action.
