The Tennessee Titans will look for their fourth straight victory when they hit the highway to face the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football in prime time. Kick off time in Houston is scheduled for 8:30PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by ESPN. The LVSC NFL odds makers have set the opening point spread in this game and the home team Houston Texans opened as a 4 ½ point favorite with the over under coming in at 46 1/2. The early money from the NFL betting public has come in on the road underdog, as the Houston Texans are currently a 4-point favorite. The total has seen early money from the NFL betting public towards the over, as the total is currently lined at 48 ½. NFL money line gamblers who would like to make a play on the favorite will find the Houston Texans lined at –210 with the road underdog Tennessee Titans bringing back +180 to win straight up without the points on their side.
Tennessee enters this game with their AFC South division rival off of 3 straight wins and all victories coming with Vince Young under center. They sit at 3-6 on the season and pretty much need to win out if they are going to qualify for a play off spot. The Titans have seen the point total skyrocket by scoring no less than 30 points during their winning streak. The production has come from the run game as the Titans have rushed for 625 yards during their three game win streak. Titans’ second year running back Chris Johnson has ran wild for the Titans with 495 yards over his past three games. With the quarterback change the Titans ball carriers have see more carries and it’s nearly a 2-1 ratio of run to pass. Tennessee’s signal caller Vince Young is hitting on 65% of his passes with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on the season. Tennessee’s defense is facing a strong passing team in Houston and the Titans have struggled in their secondary as opposing teams average 270 yards passing and opposing quarterbacks complete 69% of their passes against the Titans. The Texans sit at 5-4 on the season and are in need of a win to keep pace in the post season race. Houston has never made the NFL playoffs. The Texans are coming off their bye week and it was a tough loss to Indianapolis in their last game. Houston dropped a hard fought 20-17 game to their division rival Colts and missed a shot at overtime with a missed field goal as time expired. Houston quarterback Matt Schaub is having a good season hitting on 67% of his passes with 17 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He entered the bye week with two accurate showings hitting for 73% of his passes against Buffalo and 74% to Indianapolis. Running back Steve Slaton has been a big disappointment on the season with just a 3.1 yards a carry average. Slaton hit the bench in favor of Ryan Moats but it appears according to media reports that the 2nd year pro will get another shot at starting running back on Monday night. Back up Ryan Moats after a 126 rushing game against Buffalo two games ago only rushed for 38 yards on 16 carries against the Colts and was sent back to the bench in favor of Slaton. Houston will need to be good against the run on Monday and the Texans allow 108 yards a game rushing but a high 4.6 yards per rush against average.
