The Pittsburgh Steelers will look to bounce back in the win column when they face the Kansas City Chiefs in an NFL game on Sunday afternoon. Kick off time in Kansas City is scheduled for 1PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by CBS. The LVSC NFL odds makers have set the odds in this game and the road team Pittsburgh Steelers opened as a 9 ½ point favorite with the over under coming in at 39 ½. The early money from the NFL betting public has been favorite money, as the Pittsburgh Steelers are currently a 10-point favorite. The over under has seen early action in the betting towards the over, as the total is currently lined at 20 for the NFL bettors to play into. NFL money line gamblers can make a play on the favored Pittsburgh Steelers at –550 with the home underdog Kansas City Chiefs returning +450 to win this game outright without the need for getting points.
Pittsburgh is sitting at 6-3 on the season and suddenly are 2 games counting the tiebreaker behind the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC North Division. The Steelers are coming off an 18-12 home loss to Cincinnati last week. The team struggled offensively with just 226 yards and lost the game despite the Pittsburgh defense not allowing the Bengals offense to cross the goal line. That is the strength of this Steelers team as the Steelers only allow their opponents 277 yards per game and just 17 points per game. But the Steelers will have to play this game with their talented safety Troy Polamalu out with a knee injury. Starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is hitting on 68% of his passes with 14 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. Running back Rashard Mendehall has led the Steelers with an average of 5.4 yards a carry this season. Mendenhall was shut down last week by the very good Cincinnati Bengals defense last week for just 36 yards on 13 carries. Kansas City is having a miserable season sitting at 2-7 this season. The team is coming off a win at hapless Oakland last week 16-10 despite committing 3 turnovers. The Chiefs will be without their leading receiver on Sunday as Dwayne Bowe has been suspended for four games after testing positive for an illegal performance enhancing substance in his system. The Chiefs had signed released wide receiver Chris Chambers to their roster a few weeks back and the veteran has 6 catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns with Kansas City in two games. With running back Larry Johnson being cut from the team the bulk of the carriers will go to second year man Jamaal Charles who scampered for 103 yards on 18 carries last week. The Chiefs are a bad defense allowing their opponents 375 yards per game. They are 32nd and worst in the NFL allowing 13.1 yards per catch against their defense. That is not a good thing when you are playing a passing team led by Ben Roethlisberger.
