The early money from the college football betting public has come in on the home underdog, as the Hawaii Warriors are currently a 2-point favorite. The over under is currently lined at 53 ½ for the bettors to play into. College football money line gamblers can make a play on the favored Hawaii Warriors at –145 with the home underdog San Jose Spartans bringing back +125 to win without the points on their side.
In their meeting last season between these two WAC conference foes it was San Jose St pulling out the 20-17 win at Hawaii as a 3-point road underdog. Hawaii had only 225 yards passing on the Spartans. Hawaii was very sloppy in that game with 6 turnovers in the game compared to a turnover free game from San Jose St. Hawaii is 4-6 on the season and must win their final three games to become bowl eligible and to play in the Hawaii Bowl. Hawaii is winners of two straight and coming off a 24-6 win at home to New Mexico St. The Warriors were able to gain 485 yards on the Aggies defense in victory. The Warriors enters this game with injury concerns as starting quarterback Bryant Moniz and the Warriors top receiver Greg Salas are both listed as questionable for this game. Moniz has a sore rib and will be a game time decision. Greg Salas has a sore foot that was injured last week and forced the junior to leave the game on crutches. Sophomore quarterback Shane Austin was fourth on the depth chart during the summer and may be summoned for action. Austin has played this season and has completed 63% of his passes with 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Defensively the Warriors allow 30 points a game and 407 yards a game ranking 5th in conference. San Jose St is struggling with a 1-8 record on the season. Their lone win came against Cal Poly, a non-division 1 school. The Spartans were hit with a blow as head coach Dick Tomey announced his retirement. Tomey was hired to help save the football program and he led the team to a bowl game during his tenure as coach. But the program has sunk back to the depths of college football and now the football program is at risk again of being shut down. San Jose St has struggled for offense this season and has averaged just 13.6 points per game. Junior quarterback Jordan La Secla is hitting on 60% of his passes with 8 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He has only 1 touchdown pass in his past three games. The Spartans have scored just 23 points over his past three games. The Spartans running game only produces 2.7 yards a carry. San Jose St does defend the pass pretty well allowing just 185 yards through the air this season ranking 2nd in the WAC conference.
