The over under has seen early betting towards the over, as the total is currently lined at 46 ½. NFL money line gamblers can make a play on the favored Minnesota Vikings at –450 with the road underdog Seattle Seahawks bringing back +450 to with this game without the points spread a factor in the bet.
The Seattle Seahawks are coming off a must win game last week in their loss to the Arizona Cardinals. With Arizona winning at Seattle earlier in the season it was Arizona defeating Seattle 31-20 last week. The Seahawks fell to 3-6 and now are 4 games counting the tiebreaker behind the Cardinals in the NFC West with 7 games left. It was a crushing loss last week and the Seahawks battled all the way to the end. The turnover bug bit the Seahawks once again with huge turnovers in the Cardinals red zone last week. The defense has been hit with injuries but the Seahawks secondary has to be the worst tackling group in the NFL this season. Running backs have exploited the poor tackling of Seattle’s secondary by running outside the tackles. And with Minnesota coming into town Adrian Peterson could have another 100 yard rushing day. Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is hitting on 58% of his passes with 11 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Hasselbeck has been sacked 15 times in his 7 games this season and the Seahawks offensive line will need to protect their signal caller against their fierce pass rush. Hasselbeck has passed for over 300 yards the past two games. The Seahawks will start running back Justin Forsett at running back with Julius Jones out with an injury. Forsett is averaging 6.6 yards a carry on the season. The Seahawks defense has been terrible on the road this season allowing 31 ½ points this season. Minnesota enters this home game 8-1 and averaging 29 points in their 4 home games this season. Bret Favre is hitting on 68% of his passes this season with 30 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. The Vikings have scored no less than 27 points in their 4 home games. Running back Adrian Peterson is averaging 5.1 yards a carry. He is coming off a 133 yards rushing performance last week against Detroit. On defense the Vikings allow a high 234 yards passing on the season.
Tony T’s Opinion: If this game makes my card I would lean to the over. The Seahawks offense has been able to move the ball with high volume of passes. This is the only way the Seahawks can be competitive in this game. Both quarterbacks will have big games on in this one throwing on secondaries that give up big plays in the passing game.
