North Carolina is 7-3 on the season and is bowl eligible but eliminated from the ACC conference race with three losses in conference. The Tar Heels are winners of 3 straight games including an impressive 33-24 win against Miami last week. The Tar Heels are playing for a better bowl and industry pundits have the team projected into the December 29th Champs Sports Bowl. North Carolina by winning could get some consideration for the New Years Day Gator Bowl. The Tar Heels are led by their #1 ranked defense in conference. The team allows just 268 yards per game and just 4.1 yards per play against average. Junior quarterback T.J. Yates is hitting on 58% of his passes this season with 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Yates has a weak throwing arm and has trouble stretching defenses against good secondaries with speed. Junior running back Ryan Houston is averaging 4.0 yards a carry on the season. North Carolina has struggled for points at times this season and only average 23 points a game.
