In their meeting in the 2008 season it was Ole Miss defeating LSU on the road in Baton Rouge 31-13 as a 3-point underdog. The Rebels were able to shut down the run game of the Tigers allowing just 37 rushing yards in 29 carries. LSU committed two costly interceptions in defeat. The Rebels were able to pass for 307 yards on LSU in their win. Mississippi is coming off an impressive 42-17 win at home last week against Tennessee. The team ran all over a Monte Kiffin coached defense for 359 yards on 50 rush attempts in victory. The defense was good allowing just 275 yards to the Volunteers. Senior running back Dexter McCluster had a monster game last week with 4 touchdowns on 282 yards rushing in just 25 attempts. McCluster is turning some NFL heads with an impressive 7.1 yards per carry average on the year. McCluster has rushed for 511 yards over his past 3 games. Starting quarterback Jevan Snead has been an inconsistent passer as the junior is hitting on just 52% of his passes with 17 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. LSU will need to be good against the run on Saturday in containing Dexter McCluster. LSU is 4th in the SEC in rushing defense allowing 126 yards per game and just 3.4 yards per rush attempt. LSU is coming off a lackluster 24-16 home win to Louisiana Tech last week. The team could only put up 246 yards on their in state neighbor. Sophomore quarterback Jordan Jefferson is expected to be in the lineup this week for LSU. Jefferson did not play last week suffering from a sprained ankle. Jefferson is hitting on 63% of his passes this season with 12 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. LSU senior running back Charles Scott is out for the season with a broken collarbone. Senior ball carrier Keiland Williams had a season high 15 carries last week with 116 yards rushing on Louisiana Tech. Williams has only 15 carries this season against SEC opponents.
