The Oklahoma St Cowboys are 8-2 this season and many pundits have them penciled in for the Cotton Bowl in the new Cowboys Stadium on January 2nd if they team can win its final two games of the season. The Cotton Bowl is a nice bowl to play in and in an exciting venue so the Cowboys have motivation to close out the season with two wins. In their game with the Colorado Buffaloes last season it was the Cowboys winning 30-17 as a 17-point road favorite. Oklahoma St was able to gobble up 226 yards rushing and 217 through the air in victory. The concern for the Cowboys in this game will be the health of starting quarterback Zac Robinson. The senior quarterback took a viscous shot to his head late in last week’s win against Texas Tech and suffered a concussion in the process. Robinson was on the ground for a long while until he left the field. With a Cotton Bowl berth on the line Oklahoma St head coach Mike Gundy told the media he expects his starting quarterback to practice on the week and to play in this quick turnaround game at home to Colorado. Robinson is hitting on 63.5% of his passes this season with 15 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Robinson has only been sacked 7 times this season and his concussion came while running the football down field. The Cowboys are a very good running team led by Keith Toston who averages 5.4 yards per carry this season. Oklahoma St’s two losses were at home to Houston and Texas this season. Oklahoma St is ranked fourth in the Big 12 in total defense allowing 333 yards per game and 20.6 points per game. Colorado has been disqualified from bowl consideration after another bad loss losing 17-10 at Iowa St last week. The team is 3-7 this season and facing a very short week of preparation. Colorado was on the road last week and must travel in a short week at Oklahoma St. Colorado is 0-5 on the road this season. Colorado is 12th and last in the Big 12 conference in total offense averaging just 311 yards per game and just 21.9 points a game. Sophomore quarterback Tyler Hansen has replaced the coaches son at quarterback a few weeks back and is hitting on just 56% of his passes this season with 3 touchdowns and 4 interceptions this season. The Buffaloes are miserable on the ground averaging just 2.8 yards a carry. In Colorado’s three road games against Big 12 opponents they have scored just 30 points combined. Colorado will need to be good against the run on Thursday and the Buffaloes are ranked 9th in the Big 12 allowing 155 yards rushing per game and 4.11 yards per carry against average.
