When these two WAC teams met in the 2008 season it was Hawaii defeating New Mexico St 42-30 as a 3-½ point road favorite. Hawaii was able to move the ball on the Aggies with 144 yards on the ground and 303 through the air. Hawaii is 3-6 on the year and must win out to become bowl eligible at 7-6. The Warriors are coming off a 49-36 home victory against Utah St as a 2-point underdog. Warrior’s sophomore quarterback Bryant Moniz has saw some improvement under center. Moniz completed 21 of 37 passes last week for 337 yards and 4 touchdowns with 2 interceptions. Prior to that Moniz was 29 of 49 for 374 yards on Nevada. Moniz is the Warriors 3rd string quarterback who walked onto the program and has seen action due to injuries to Hawaii quarterbacks. Receiver Greg Salas has led the Warriors with 69 receptions for 16.9 yards per catch average. The Warriors are getting good production on the ground this season with a team average of 5.0 yards a carry. On defense the Warriors sit 7th in the WAC allowing 425 points per game and 33 points a game. New Mexico St has hit a wall over their past three games. The Aggies have been badly outscored 164-10 over their past 3 games. The team has been torched defensively giving up about 1500 yards in this three game stretch. The Aggies are dead last in all of college football in total offense this season. Starting quarterback Jeff Fleming is hitting on just 51% of his passes with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Junior running back Seth Smith is the lead ball carrier averaging 4.3 yards a carry this season.

Tony T’s Opinion: Hawaii is the play here. New Mexico St traveled on Friday afternoon to play this game at Hawaii. Most teams travel on Thursday but obviously the team is saving money in hotel and other expenses by doing this. Expect Hawaii to pound New Mexico St.
