It was Oregon St notching an impressive win last week at Cal by a score of 31-14. With the win the Beavers are now bowl eligible. The Pac 10 is the conference of quarterbacks and the Beavers have a good one in lefty senior quarterback Sean Canfield who is hitting on 69% of his passes That is an impressive number considering the speed in the secondaries of the Pac 10 conference. In last week’s game against Cal, Canfield hit on 29 of 39 passes for 342 yards two touchdowns and 1 interception. Canfield has passed for 13 touchdowns and just 5 picks on the season. The Beavers signal caller has hit on 68% of his passes or better in his past 4 games. Sophomore running back Jacquizz Rodgers is coming off his worst game of the season with just 2.7 yards per carry average in 25 rush attempts last week. Oregon St does give up yardage through the air as opposing offenses average 264 yards passing per game on their defense. Washington is 3-6 on the season and must win out to become bowl eligible. The team is coming off a bad 24-23 loss to UCLA last week. The Huskies won the turnover battle 5-1 on the Bruins but still could not earn a win against the struggling UCLA Bruins. Junior quarterback Jake Locker’s numbers have been dropping since hitting for 60% passing against USC. He has been no better than 57.9% accurate in any of his 6 games played after the USC victory. Locker has thrown 5 interceptions over his past 3 games. Freshman running back Chris Polk has run the football very well with 4.8 yards per carry average. Polk is coming off a nice 132 yards rushing game against UCLA last week. The Huskies are looking to break a 3 game losing streak. In that span the Huskies have averaged just 20 points a game. The big issue with the Huskies has been inside the red zone where they have scored 15 touchdowns, kicked 12 field goals and failed to convert on 5 occasions in their 32 tries inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. Washington has struggled throughout the season on defense allowing their opponents 427 yards per game ranking 9th in the Pac 10 conference.
