The Stanford Cardinal off their big win at home last week against Oregon will hit the road to face the USC Trojans in a Pac 10 college football game on Saturday afternoon. Kick off time at the LA Coliseum is scheduled for 3:30PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by FSN. A staggering stat for the Trojans this season is that they are just 32% on third down conversions this season ranking 8th in the Pac 10. Junior running back Joe McKnight has gotten the bulk of the carries and he is producing a 6.2 yards per carry average on the season. After three straight poor defensive games the Trojans recovered last week to allow just 81 yards rushing and forced 4 turnovers last week against the Arizona St Sun Devils. The USC Trojans have plenty to play for as there is a possibility of a BCS Bowl berth in the Fiesta Bowl should USC win out to close 10-2 on the season. Stanford has finally become bowl eligible at 6-3 this season following the teams 51-42 win last week at home to Oregon. The Cardinal produced over 500 total yards of offense in their victory. Senior running back Toby Gerhart had a huge game last week with 223 rushing yards on the Ducks defense. Gerhart has over 1200 yards rushing this season with 5.2 yards per carry average. Gerhart rushed for 101 yards on 23 carries in last year’s game with the Trojans. Freshman quarterback Andrew Luck has played well hitting on 58% of his passes with 11 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. Gerhart had two touchdown passes last week in the teams win against Oregon. Stanford has not been a good road team this season at 1-3 with their only win coming against Washington St. The Cardinal past two road games in conference were not very good defensively as the team gave up 38 points at Oregon St and 43 at Arizona.
