After starting the season at 6-0 the Denver Broncos have dropped two straight games to fall to 6-2 on the season. Suddenly the Denver Broncos are only 1 game ahead of the San Diego Chargers in the AFC West. Denver has struggled offensively during this losing streak putting up just 7 points at Baltimore and 10 last week at home to Pittsburgh on Monday Night Football. The team has sputtered on the ground with a combined 93 yards rushing in 36 rushing attempts in this losing streak. Orton has hit on 60% of his passes but was unable to get a touchdown pass in his games against the Ravens and Steelers. The Broncos are hoping to find more offensive success against a Washington Redskins team that has allowed 27 points last week to Atlanta and 27 to Philadelphia two weeks back. The Redskins run defense gave up 181 yards last week to Atlanta. But the real issue with Redskins has been their lack of offense. The Redskins average just 14 points per game this season. The Redskins have scored no more than 17 points in any one game this season. Starting quarterback Jason Campbell has great difficulty of throwing the football downfield and often settles for underneath throws that often results in failed conversions on third downs. The Redskins only convert 1 of 3 attempts on third downs. Veteran running back Clinton Portis has just averaged 4.0 yards per carry on the season. Portis suffered a concussion last week and could miss this game. Washington has been good against the pass allowing just 9.5 yards per completion. The Redskins have been hit with injuries with two starting offensive lineman out and veteran tight end Chris Cooley sidelined with a right ankle injury.
